Professor Jiang Zhiguo: First of all, thank you for your interview and your attention to the polyurethane industry. Since I started working in 1987, I have been engaged in the research and development of polyurethane materials for nearly 35 years, involving polyurethane adhesives, polyurethane coatings, polyurethane elastomers, polyurethane foams and polyurethane fibers. The main research direction focuses on the application of polyurethane materials in new fields, such as high-speed railways, nuclear power plants, pumped storage power plants, aerospace and medical fields, etc.

Reporter from Tiantian Chemical Network: About the research project you are currently promoting , what innovative progress? What fields can these innovative achievements be applied to, and what kind of development prospects do they have?

Professor Jiang Zhiguo: In the past five years, the national development model has been quietly changing, and the demand for polyurethane has also occurred There have been major changes, and more demands have emerged. For example: the construction of elastic power grids is in full swing, and the construction of pumped storage power stations is speeding up, among which there are many applications for new polyurethane materials. We have developed “polyurethane three-proof (waterproof, anti-seepage and anti-icing) coating” and MS plastic water-stop material, which are used in the construction of rockfill face dams. Its outstanding technical index is that the water absorption rate is less than 0.1%, and it can be used for “long-term wading”. It can not only meet the construction of power station reservoirs, but also help the technical progress of the waterproof industry. It is estimated that the total domestic market size can exceed 1 billion yuan per year.

Reporter from Tiantian Chemical Network: Compared with SR and GB plastic sealing materials , could you please elaborate on the innovations of MS plastic sealing materials?

Professor Jiang Zhiguo: SR plastic filler is a sealing material made of asphalt, black, viscous, and Elastic paste, SR plastic filler is used as water-stop material for the surface of rockfill dams, SR plastic filler can also be used as caulking water-stop material for other concrete and building concrete joints, the main material of SR plastic filler is Ding Based on putty, SR plastic filler has good plasticity and is easy to construct, so it is used in many projects.

GB plastic packing is chlorinated butyl rubber sealing material, specially for concrete panels , Rockfill dam peripheral joint water stop and expansion joint water stop, a new type of flow type caulking water stop material developed and produced, is the key material for surface water stop of face dams, and can also be used as joints of other concrete buildings Surface caulking material.

MS plastic packing is a silicone sealing material, which is specially designed for rockfill face dams The outstanding advantages of the new water-stop material developed are: low temperature resistance, and can be used in an environment of -45°C. Long life, stable material for a long time (50 years), wide temperature range use.

Professor Jiang Zhiguo: Everyone has a different perspective and must have different views on major policies. “Double carbon” is the general trend, the direction is clear, but the channels can be different. The polyurethane industry has penetrated into all aspects of life. Polyurethane has many advantages such as low energy consumption in processing, long service life, good heat preservation and energy saving. More application of polyurethane materials can achieve the goal of double carbon.

Reporter from Tiantian Chemical Network: Frontier technology has become the wind vane of the polyurethane industry. As a scholar, what do you think of the current situation in which academia and experts from various enterprises in the polyurethane industry have established production-research integration and cooperation, collaborated with enterprises to educate people to promote technological innovation, and help industrial transformation? Do you have any suggestions for this?

Professor Jiang Zhiguo: There is an essential difference between science and technology. It is to do a good job of unknown products. The purpose of the work is different, the inspection method is different, and there is a natural difference between the two. Some science can be transformed into technology, and some science can be transformed into “magic”. All technology comes from science, and all science may not produce technology. Scientists and technical workers should support each other. It is recommended that the polyurethane industry seek solutions (not production technology) from the scientific community, and it is also recommended that scientists seek research inspiration from the industry. Scientists and technicians in the polyurethane industry need to work together to fight a “cooperative battle”. Realize the sharing of resources and achievements, accelerate the transformation of achievements, enhance the international competitiveness of my country’s polyurethane industry, and promote the high-quality development of the polyurethane industry. In addition, the introduction of doctoral education in engineering indicates that education will become the link between science and technology in the future, and the national science and technology innovation will also usher in a new wave of development.

Brief introduction of Mr. Jiang Zhiguo

Jiang Zhiguo, researcher, was born in May 1965. In 1999, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, majored in materials science, graduated with a Ph.D. He is currently working at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Director of Polyurethane Engineering Materials Research Center of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, director of China Polyurethane Association, impurity editorial board member of “Polyurethane Industry”, chairman of Polyurethane Subcommittee of China Plastics Standards Committee, member of Polyurethane Products Subcommittee of China Plastics Standards Committee. Has long been engaged in the research and development of special functional polyurethane materials, modification and special limit application research.
